Being a cancer survivor myself, I don't know how Tanner would have done it without all the love and prayers from such a wonderful family and friends. He will be in my prayers for a continued recovery. So good to see some of the family in the new photo. Having not seen some for so long. Thank you Verlie, with much love, Lois ____________________________________________________________ Name: City: Hull, Quebec, Canada Sent: 30-May-2004 03:43 PM Hello Tanner and family: I'm a very remote cousin from Canada (I am told by a Louisiana cousin that there are some Savoie in your ancestry). I admire your courage and determination in your bouts with cancer. I know what you all have to go through all too well. My son Mathieu Savoie was also diagnosed with a very severe cancer in the spinal chord when he was 11 (in 1989) and he waged a pretty tough war against it until he was 13 (surgeries, chemo, radiation, isolatin rooms, etc.) During a remission, he wrote a book about his life and his fight with cancer which was published in Canada and became a bestseller. Unfortunately, the book is in French and has not been translated into English. I will gladly send you a free copy if someone in your family can read French or if you simply would like to look at Mathieu's 15 page photo album. Good luck to you all! Ghislain Savoie ____________________________________________________________ Name: City: Leadwood, Missouri Sent: 28-May-2004 10:03 AM I read the article today in Family Circle the story touched my heart and brought back memories. Memories of a time when my girlfriends 6 month old son was diagnosed with cancer, a lump that was discovered by his babysitter. It a was a mass that was rapped around his ureatha. He went through very hard days. But with prayer and love, he came through it. He is now 16 years old and cancer free for 14 1/2 years. I truly pray that Tanner stays cancer free and never has to live with that kind of pain again. The strength that he and your family has shown is outstanding. I wish Tanner the best of luck in the coming school year. My prayers are with you. He went through chemo and radiation, and that seemed to work then again last march when he was 13 it came back, so they decided that they needed to do a bone marrow transplant, which is very hard to find matches of marrow and blood type. His older brother and younger sister both had a match. So they decided to take it from his older brother because it is very painful. They went through the surgery and now Clayton is cured. They said that if it ever came back again that they would try his sister, but for now he's a healthy 14 year old boy, Who's a ladies man. Our church set up a 24 hour prayer time. We had everyone sign up to pray for Clayton every 15 minutes and then we would pray for 15 min. So he was being prayed for 24 hours a day. That meant even if it was 2:15am we would set our alarm to wake up and pray for him. It was awsome to see everyone come together as a church family and it worked! He is an angel that GOD blessed us to be a part of our lives.
