Name: Homepage: http://got no F * ing home page City: jersey city nj Sent: 23-Aug-2005 12:17 AM Hey Dairy Land Dolls Thanx for making the trip out to NYC, that was the bitchinest thing ever. Although I was rootin' for the hometeam, I didn't mind so much that we lost, all of skating-dom was the WINNNER !!! I spoke with S.I.D. VI on the subway after the party at Moonshine Saturday, she told me how much practice and determination you have, and to win on the foreign turf, I gotta hand it to you. We don't take kindly to gettin beaten around here, I hope you can return for a rematch soon. That was my first time seeing live derby, and I am still wiggin out four days later, the best entertainment bang for the buck I have had in NYC in years. Being a longtime inliner myself, I was particularly impressed with the skills all of you girls possess, NY and Wisc. Keep up the good work. Don't know if you are familiar with the Great EsSkate which takes palce in South Beach Miami every winter, that is a far-fuckin-out weekend, 75 miles or so of organized skates through the streets over three days and party party party all night long. Glad I got a chance to see some of you in a more relaxed state at Moonshine, my new fave dive. Great talking to you SID, you are a blue angel sporting horns. XXOXOXXO Annie Christ Name: Homepage: http://www.madrollindolls.com Sent: 22-Aug-2005 03:03 PM okay yeah. so we won, 82-72, and the audience was awesome. I guess there were about 1000 people, twice their usual turnout, and by the end they were just this wall of noise. not screaming for a player, or a team, but for EVERYTHING DERBY. girl goes down, yell. girl clears the pack, yell. yell, yell, yell. it was awesome. there was a fight in the audience. suzy hotrod clocked jewells of denile for real. MRD friends and family came from all over, i can't tell you what a releif it was to see those signs, and cheers are like crackerjack fuel - make her go faster. Their track is horribly slippery. i hated that, my feet were flyin out from under me. blocking was okay, but jamming, yuck. By the last period i had it down alright, but it was a real confidence-killer. i like our grippy fast floor. the gg girls were supercool. they're sweet. we kicked their asses and they said "thank you!" new york was fun, after the bout i dont think most of the girls slept more than a couple hours the rest of the weekend. the animals. we shopped and dicked around on the stupid subway and tried to hit every single bar between manhattan and brooklyn. good times, i highly recommend it. started some cool discussions about playing styles and rules and whatnot, too. alot of the gg girls liked our aggressive style, the audience liked the hard hits and takedowns. both teams were very cool about incidental fouls, and intentional ones, too. there were just a couple rules and reffing issues, but they had a good setup, and that will get tweaked as we all play more. i can't think about anything else but what we learned there, how it changed my perspective of the game, both at home and touring, and jesus they're all amazing chicks. roller derby truly is the greatest american sport. crackerjack Name: Homepage: http://www.madrollindolls.com City: madison wi Sent: 22-Aug-2005 02:37 PM Gotham Girls have some great photos of the bout up - check them out! ![]() Name: Homepage: http://www.crujonesrock.com City: syracuse NEW YORK Sent: 22-Aug-2005 12:57 PM you guys remember me??? Name: City: New York (that is, what's left of it after Friday Night!) Sent: 22-Aug-2005 08:07 AM Your Dolls beat us fair and square: 82 to 72 didn't do the total domination its due-- it seemed more like 82 to 41. We had only ONE skater (Rippin' Kitten) who skated as if she could have even gotten in to your league, much less been an "All-Star". What do you feed your ladies out there? It seemed like our GGRD skaters were underfed-- malnourished (except for Kitten and Chassis Crass, whose excess poundage didn't pound anyone into submission) and unable to take the punishment the Dolls were dishing out. To all other leagues-- beware! Madison's teams are a roller derby force to be reckoned with! I'm still in shock over 48 hours later-- WOW!
