I feel it was meant to be that I happened upon it while looking up "pretty dresses" with my little girl in mind. What a beautiful celebration of family. Thank you. I will make sure to keep checking for more material, and I would love to see some of the pictures that you took of Connie and myself in Boone on the site. I love you very much Richie Name: City: East Orange, N.J. Sent: 08/12 05:01 PM Joe, Your "Delta" photos provided me with a mini vacation and a quiet interlude to get-away-from-it-all. Enjoyed it all. Glad I finally made it. Love, Carolyn Name: City: Daytona Beach Sent: 07/13 02:39 PM Liked your new Venice format. Everything flowed quicker on this old machine. I'm indeed blessed to have lived in your shadow. Name: Homepage: http://www.geocities.com/di_bael City: Stockton CA Sent: 04/25 04:13 PM Happened on your site while searching for info about the Pear Festival. Enjoyed the tribute to your wife and the poems. I love poetry. I most especially enjoyed the photos of the Delta. Your statement about taking your out-of-town friends on a tour of the Delta was a mistake because they were bored with it made me laugh. I think to enjoy the beauty of the Delta, one would have to have been raised in the countryside. Whenever my husband and I miss the quietness and openness of the countryside, we take a drive down the Delta through Thornton, Isleton, Locke, Walnut Grove, Courtland. When everything is green, we love the beauty of the tilled and rowed farmland and the orchards on the one side of the road and the waterway on the other side. And just to take a leisurely walk in all that solitude is sheer pleasure! Thank you for sharing your photos! Name: City: Dixon, CA Sent: 03/19 11:43 AM Mr Meier, I landed on your webpage while searching for the Pear Festival in Courtland. I spent 2 years "commuting" on weekends between Sacramento (near Freeport) and Antioch. It was a time I hope never to forget. Many peaceful drives through the towns captured in your pictures and words helped me maintain a perspective and appreciation for the simple things in life. Not much has changed since you left. You've given me the inspiration to make it a point to capture some images to share with others and remember my days here in this area of California. Sincerely, Ed Name: City: Placerville, Ca Sent: 03/14 12:44 PM Hi Joe, Jim Treis from Aerojet told me about your website. I think we might have met at Phil Meredith's retirement back in '90. It's magnificent. Also, your explanation of the photo is interesting and said more in a few words than I could find at the entire Port of Sacramento site. What an interesting story you tell. Thank you for sharing these tresures with all of us. I have lived here all of my life and would love to have been able to capture the beauty of the Port as you did. Love, Carolyn & Max Name: A friend Sent: 09/28 12:56 AM Dear Mr. Meier, Your work amazed me. I was truly touched by your tribute to your wife and thought the descriptions were a beautiful compliment to your wonderful work. It was a delight to look at these images. They are truly works of art. Name: City: Melbourne, Australia Sent: 07/04 08:40 PM Dear Mr. Meier, I came across your very interesting site by accident, having keyed in the words Ben Brodsky. You mention Ben Brodsky as running the Liberty Theatre in Irvington, New Jersey. Could this be the same Benjamin Brodsky who played an important part in early Chinese cinema? I have co-written a study of Mr. Brodsky for the Hong Kong Film Archive, which you could access on .... http://www.lcsd.gov.hk/CE/CulturalService/HKFA/english/newsletter/nl14_4.html Thanks very much for your attention and my best wishes for the ongoing enthusiastic reader responses to your website.
