I was impressed, but not too stunned by their debut a year or so ago. It chugged along with death rock, a little bit Motorhead, a lot of rock strut and spit. But now, on "The Lamb" Mi Amore has created something that retains these elements of dirty hardcore rock and infuses some thrash punk influence, as well as a good dosage of breakdown intensity. Resting somewhere between Cursed, High On Fire, and later Damnation AD (Mike DC guest vocals on a song while I’m on the subject of referencing) it’s easy to see how this band is probably excessively loud in the live setting. An impeccably nice layout pulls this whole thing together into one big old package of awesome. Most definitely worthy of your attention and worship. Here's a little bit of information about this newest addition to the Horizontal Press roster: "Through the dust and haze of the post-nuclear wasteland, a lone biker armed for survival rides through the debris ridden asphalt on a mission to deal justice to a humanity whose conscience has been mutated and further eroded by the fallout of it's fear obsessed culture" This exemplifies a type of fictional scenario that the 13 tracks off of MI AMORE 's sophomore release Lamb may inspire in the mind of the immersed listener with an overactive imagination. Formed in 2000 in Quebec City, Canada, MI AMORE made it clear that this not a band not for the faint of heart or the weak of mind- this is abrupt, intelligent and honest music that transcends the artificial barriers between rock, punk, hardcore, and metal. MI AMORE refuses to be pigeonholed or ignored. Over the past 5 years MI AMORE has been hard at work bringing their wall of sound to any ears that would listen. They have played live relentlessly since their first show in Feb of 2001, sharing time with kindred spirits such as Burnt By The Sun, Unearth, Converge, Darkest Hour, A Perfect Murder, Rocket From The Crypt, Anthrax and Cro-Mags. MI AMORE has toured U.S. and trekked across Canada several times, including the 2003 "Rat Tail" tour with CURSED. MI AMORE 's live shows have truly earned the adjectives of "brutal", "intense" and "energetic," but what's more interesting is that one can actually have fun at one of their shows amidst the chaos. "Mi Amore as just another product. Mi Amore as the next big thing. Once a vehicle for outrage now just entertainment packaged tastefully." Having received a lot attention and press in the wake of their debut album, MI AMORE return with their follow up to 2002's 'Crawling KingSnake' with even more power and intensity. These 13 tracks were recorded at God City Studios in MA with KURT BALLOU of CONVERGE at the helm. With more mature song-writing, the hard and heavy death and roll continues to smash your head back and forth. Featuring guest vocal appearances by Mike from DAMNATION AD, Nate from CONVERGE as well as Ballou himself on guitar, MI AMORE have everything needed to make heads turn. This is a memorable release that will be enjoyed from now and beyond the apocalypse. For fans of: High On Fire, Converge, Cursed Number of entries: 9 [ MI AMORE ] Create a FREE guestbook!
