We are moving to the Ft. Walton Beach area in about two weeks. I have a child newlydiagnoised with some special needs. Due to these needs it has been recommended that I home school my son till the end of the year to reduce the transition stress for him, he doesnt handle it as well as others. I am now short on time and have no idea what to do. Can someone give me some information? What do I have to do to allow him to complete this year and move on to fourth in public school again if we choose to send him back that way? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Crystal

Re: Educating our 3rd grade 8 yr. old at home . We live in CA and would like to begin the K-12 extended studies program at home next year through Texas Tech University. We are currently attending a private school that only goes through 2nd grade. The University's K-12 program is accredited by Texas Education Agency. 1) How do we become a Home School in CA (teaching only our child) 2) Where can I check to ensure the credits my child receives are recognized in CA, or is that a mute point with home schooling? Thank you for any assistance you can give!

I am new to homeschooling with my 7 year old son . We began just this summer for several reasons not limited to him being held back in the first grade. I am excited but a little concerned that he gets the best God has to give him. I am sure that it is God's desire that we home educate this child. I will order your book as soon as I get the funds to do so. I am no longer full time employed but I am an entreprenuer in an exciting business and just getting it off tbe ground. Thank you for the information

I was wondering, my daughter is about to turn 4 and I started to look into home schooling.Do I have to have a degree or certification to homeschool my child or do I just get in touch with the school district in my county and take it from there? If you could e-mail the answer to this question it would really be a great help.

I need help! I'm not sure how to get started to homeschool my 11 yr old. He will be in 6th grade. I am completely fed up with public schools. We just want a quality education for our children. We are willing to do whatever it takes to get our children what they are entitled to. Knowledge is freedom and power. Public schools-in so. California- give neither to our kids.

I have just begun to homeschool my children who are 16, 14, and 12. One in seventh grade, one in ninth, and the other in tenth. Two years ago my husband was hit in the head with a log and suffered from a severe closed head injury and hasnt been able to work yet. They try and try to get him back into the work force but he is unable to do so. I have to homeschool my childred because we move alot while they are trying him at different jobs and also our boys are very helpful in getting things done around the house. I am confused and dont know what they will be tested on and how to make sure they will pass. If you have any information for me please send it. I know God has great plans for our family and I am trusting in Him to get us through.

Hello, Our family is moving to Palm Bay in about two to three weeks. We have two daughters ages 5 and 6. I have been homeschooling them for the past year and plan to continue doing so after we move. I have kept detailed records of everything I've done with them, but have yet to be in contact with anyone about their education so far. Here in Pennsylvania, it is not necessary to be in contact with anyone until your child is eight years of age. I am anxious though to be in contact with someone because I have many questions about testing, sports activities and recording grades. I have questions also about who I have to contact in regards to homeschooling my children as required by the state. I really enjoy homeschooling my girls and am looking forward to living in Florida. Thank you for your website, I plan on buying the Homeschool is Cool book, but if you have any tips for me about what to do first, the letter of intent, who to contact, I would greatly appreciate it, if you have the time. Thanks again, Christine Glowe

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if when you move and you wish to have your child homeschooled, do you turn in the Notice of Intent and Waiver to your old town or to the new one to which you are moving? I searched and read and re-read laws but they all seemed unclear. One other question that I had was could your child be kept from homeschooling because of excused excessive absents? Please email me with the answers you to my questions. Thank you, Melissa
