My father served with the 4th, 126 Ordinance during WWII. He was extremely proud of his unit. If anyone remembers him, please email me at the above address. We know very little of his experiences. He never spoke of it. We will never have a first hand account since he passed away last year. His name was Thomas R. O'Connor. He hailed from Cambridge, Massachusetts.

My father SSG Anthony T. Hisel served with the 101st and 82nd Airborne and was at battle of Bastogne. He landed (dropped) with the 325th Glider Regiment of 82nd Airborne. His glider was probably one of those mentioned in this diary. All of his military records have apparently disappeared with fire in St. Louis. Anyone having any info on the gliders/and or paratroopers please contact me. I enjoyed reading this diary very much.

My dad served as Sec-Treas. for the 4th Armored Association for more than 20 years. Then we had another great man, John Whitehill, take that position after my dads death. Now it is now up to me now that John has left us too. I would really like to hear from any past 4th Armored people who might want to get back in to the BEST Armored gang still going. Please contact me at the above email address.

This essay was written by the Grandson of Arnold Nelson, former member of the 24th Armored Engineer Battalion, I thought it merited insertion here. TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER Here rest in Honored Glory An American Soldier Known But To God. The tomb of the Unknown Soldier is of great significance to our country. It is one of the most cherished symbols in Washington D.C. The Tomb represents, not just the soldiers buried there, but every soldier who has put on an American uniform, fought for our country and died defending its freedom. The fact that it is honored by being guarded around the clock, shows our military the respect that we have for them and what they have done and are doing for us. The Tomb is a symbol to remind Americans of the loyalty these people had and do have for their country, as well as the cost of freedom. It is a constant reminder that we must not take for granted our freedom and we must cherish it. The opportunity to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier would be an incredibly high honor for me. I would feel as if I was able to personally show my gratitude to all the soldiers who have died. the fact that we do have so many wonderfulopportunities in this country is a result of their sacrifices and I can't think of a better way to show respect for them. Their willingness to fight makes this country what it is, Land of the free and Home of the Brave. From this experience, I plan to take away in my heart that soldiers, old and young, rrisk their lives every day for my, and every other Americans freedom. I think of the time when there was a terrible storm and the soldiers guarding the Tomb were given the chance to come off their post and go inside and they said no. That is why the Tomb is such a powerful symbol of American freedom. Evan though we may not know the names of those buried there, we, as Americans can never forget their sacrifice. Danny Nelson age 13 years. The winner!
