Im researching my late father in laws service record with the 385BG. His name was John Rowan and he was a radio opperator with the 548BS.I have photos of him with other crew members. Ralph H.Smith Pilot, John Thomas Copilot, William Wingate Bombardier, Ernest Downey Navigator, Gene Pettitt Ball Gunner, Don Morgan L.Waist Gunner, Henry Lelie Engineer, George Droby Armorer and Ted Ceveland Tail Gunner. Any additional info would be appreciated. (aircraft num. stories etc. ) For years John would only tell his young daughters he was a cook on a B-17, and i'd like to let them know how much they all sacrificed for us. Thanks

My father was the pilot of the original Ruby's Raiders. Recently I have come across some information on the original crew of B-17 Ruby's Raiders. I have several pictures, how the aircraft was named, and pictures of the ripped apart condition of the B17 flown in before they got Ruby. These are of course all B&W photos. My Dad was with the 385th and was at Great Ashfield for two years beginning June, 1943. He started out in administration and then went to Link Trainer School. He was put in charge of the program where pilots would come to class and brush up on their instrument flying. His name is Charles Wilkins from Havana, Arkansas. He would love to hear from anyone who might remember him or going to the classes.
