Is there anything that can be done to prevent this. She has been scoped and she is clean. Sent: Thu September 23 2004 02:59 PM Disregard part of that last message about Leeaferd, He is still racing -- in fact he won or placed in a race at Hoosier sometime within the past couple of weeks, my husband thinks a trainer by the name of Robert Randle has him, u may be able to leave a message for him at the stable gate at Hoosier Park, call the switchboard Sent: Thu September 23 2004 02:50 PM re: grey TB named Leeaferd, he was racing last winter at Hoosier Park in Indiana -- I believe the trainer was a man named Herb Hoover. I think Herb gave him too a jockey named Jodie Lee Fortner, I may be mistaken but I think she is currently using him as a pleasure horse, I dont think he has run recently. If you call the switchboard or jockey's room at Turfway Park you may be able to leave a message for Jodie, if she does not have Leeaferd she may know where he is. Wicklow, Eire Name: Hi yah Sent: Wed June 16 2004 10:17 PM you probably wouldn't want to be a jockey if you knew what it is all about sure racing down the track hitting the back stretch is fun but you need to always be the right weight all the time in order to get mounts you must also have talent and know what you are doing. It is a dream for many to be the best in the world but you must realise that with greatness comes jealousy and hate. Thoroughbreds are sensitive, strong, willing, and powerful indivituals who are bred to be competitive. They are high strung and could easily hurt you. I know from experience. I work with horses especially thoroughbreds, I own one and one is enough. powerful quick and smart. I'm not saying being a jockey is bad but their is a lot to consider, if you are seriously wanting to ride learn the basics first of regular riding (English/western) and then move on to racing. If you are willing to put time and effort it will help quite a bit and you must be able to except to lose even the greatest of jockeys lose quite a bit I don't know any that have never lost a race. Good luck but be carful and know this is what you want to do. Good Luck and I hope you will achieve your goals Name: Homepage: http://www.martinpipe.co.uk City: Wellington Sent: Thu June 10 2004 04:35 AM Hi David, Did you know that you won on the half brother to the Derby winner?! Well Done MCP Name: City: Texas Sent: Fri June 04 2004 11:19 PM I really want to be a jockey when i get older, i live on a western farm and i mainly ride bareback, but i am 14 years old and i am 5ft 2inches the shortest in my class andweigh 110 i am probably over weight and to tall for flat racing, but it is my dream! So i may just be a trainer. I want to train and own the finest thoroughbreds ever... But one thing i do have to say i may get to be an apprentance jockey for the AQHA. So maybe my dream is coming true.***** Name: Sent: Mon May 24 2004 03:36 PM I have just recently bought a horse for pleasure no papers and I would say she is around 13 and has her lip tattoo'ed and i am curios about her back ground any ideas how to find out???? Name: City: ND Sent: Mon May 24 2004 01:08 PM I was wondering if anybody out there has ever heard of a Grey thoroughbred by the name of Leeaferd. He is about 8-10 years of age now. He was bred and raised on our ranch but was claimed from us few years back. He was a good horse and I'd like to know where he's ended up. I searched his name and he has been in races in Indiana and Kentucky. If anybody knows anything about him, email me at swimchic_34@hotmail.com THANKS!
