Rich was diagnosed with CHF in 1996, two days before Christmas. The day before valentine's day 2001, he was so close to death that he was implanted with a mechanical heart pump. (L-VAD, now valentine's day is "L-VAD Day" in our house) The day before father's day 2001, Rich recieved his heart transplant. He has had no rejection so far. His donor was a 16 year old boy named Sam. Rich's angel is Sam. Rich talks with Sam's grandma once in a while. They have a bond, and say I love you at the end of the conversations, yet they have never met. Your website touched Rich. He has been going through some tough emotional times the past month or so. Thank you for sharing your story. I cried while we read it together. It was really a blessing to have found your site today.
