Name: Homepage: http://www.g3sds.org.uk City: South Dorset UK Sent: 03/03 19:53 News from the South Dorset Radio Society - posted 03/03/05 Change of Speaker for Club Night Tuesday 8th March 2005. Mr Journeaux has contacted Carol and informed her that he has recently been involved in an incident that has left him nursing a couple of cracked ribs, he therefore feels unable to come and give us a talk as he is in considerable pain. He apologised quite profusely, but has stated that he would be pleased to come instead at a later date. I therefore have the pleasure to announce that a replacement Speaker has been found for the evening. John Rose has agreed to speak on the subject of "Radio Restoration". I'm personally looking forward to this, and I am sure that as many of you as possible will come along and add your support. I will send Mr Journeaux our regards, and wish him a speedy recovery. So pass the word around and let as many members know, and even non-members who might be interested. Regards & see you all on the night. Further more the Portland Bill site mentioned has not been confirmed as a location where Marconi conducted any early experiments. When all the information has been collated and verified the full details will be published on the Societies web site and in it's monthly newsletter as will our plans for Marconi Day. 73 de Geoff, G0EVW - Vice President Name: Homepage: http://qrz.com/m0hem City: barking essex Sent: 19/01 10:39 see you in 2005 Name: Homepage: http://www.g3sds.org.uk City: Weymouth Sent: 08/01 12:06 The SDRS Web Site is currently being updated. There was enthusiastic support for the proposed 2 metre repeater and it was decided to proceed as quickly as possible. The preferred call-sign is GB3DR. The recommendation is that it will be on channel RV59, 145. 1375 MHz RX and 145.7375 MHz TX. Although there were no objections to the proposal, two members said they would be sorry to see the Packet Radio Node close and after a discussion it was decided to keep WEY2 on the air if at all possible. Well over 40 members have now renewed their membership to SDRG since the 2004 Newsletter was sent out. Annual subscriptions for the year 2004/5 are now due and should be sent to the Treasurer, Rob Mott, G0ECX at 27, Walpole Street, Weymouth, DT4 7HJ. If you have already paid or are a life member thank you very much. A full report on the AGM and an updated membership list will be posted on the Group's Web Site www.gb3sd.radiouk.com as soon as possible. 73 de Geoff Watts, G0EVW - Vice Chairman SDRG Name: Homepage: http://www.gb3sd.radiouk.com City: South Dorset UK Sent: 18/10 18:53 AGM REMINDER PLEASE DO YOUR VERY BEST TO ATTEND THIS IMPORTANT MEETING SDRG AGM The AGM of the South Dorset Repeater Group will be held at the Chickerell Church Hall on Tuesday the 19th of October at 7.30 for 8pm. A Newsletter has been posted to all members and supporters. A copy of the Newsletter has also been posted on the Group Web Site and can be read here:- http://www.freenetpages.co.uk/hp/g0evw/agm2003.htm Please do your best to attend as there are some very important issues to discuss, see below! PROPOSAL TO INSTALL 2 METRE VOICE REPEATER At a committee meeting of the South Dorset Repeater Group held on the 10/09/04 a discussion took place about the possibility and viability of installing a 2 metre voice repeater with GB3SD. A previous application made some years ago was rejected by the RSGB. A proposal from Rob, G0ECX, seconded by Les, G0FAJ to try again was accepted by the committee and it was decided to write to the RSGB and see what their current views might be. The response so far has been positive and therefore Rob's proposal will be put to the SDRG2000 membership at the forthcoming AGM. The rationale behind this proposal will be fully explained at the AGM. GB7SD/WEY2 WOULD GO QRT A consequence of the installation of a 2 metre repeater would mean that the Packet Radio Node GB7SD/WEY2 would have to close although it must be emphasised that the current committee will not proceed any further unless the proposal in endorsed at the AGM. If you are Packet Radio operator and regular user of GB7SD/WEY2 and believe it should be retained then please let us know, [ gb3sd@radiouk.com ] or (preferably) at the AGM. As this news arrived too late to include in the SDRG Newsletter please spread the word about this proposal as much as possible and stress the importance of attending the AGM. Many thanks to all those that have already renewed their membership, 73 de SDRG - www.gb3sd.radiouk.com Name: Homepage: http://www.gb3sd.radiouk.com City: South Dorset Sent: 12/10 21:57 19 OCTOBER 2004 - South Dorset Repeater Group AGM The Group that supports GB3SD and GB7SD will be holding it's Annual General Meeting in the Chickerell Church Hall (the same venue as SDRS use) at 7.30 for 8pm on Tuesday the 19th of October. Was nice to also listen into the marine frequencies. There was a lot of interference over the voices in high pitched beeps. Sounded like some sort of layer of the voice, maybe encryption. I can't for the life of me remember who has moved into his new house near wyke regis but I hope he has many happy years living there. Last weeks highlights must have been the guy from birmingham in the caravan, all the martins in the church and how weymouth was made for horse and cart. Theres no amatuer radio around where I live, apparantly the costs to have it on one of the local transmitters is too expensive. We've never experienced 6,288 feet of pure elevation. This will be an ultimate test for all radio signals alike. We will be testing various transmitters and modes - then posting our data via a website. It will include audio, video and photos that we'll experience on our way to the top of the mountain. We're seeking support in our great event of taking a trip to the top of Mount Washington. We're not looking for "Financial" support - we're looking for people, clubs, magazines, e-zines and anybody else in the Radio Enthusiast world to spread the word + give us creative support(badges, club logo's, newsletters, Radio related clothing or anything you feel that would give us the support we require to make this happen) for heading to the top of this mountain located in New Hampshire USA. The benefit of the data, images, voice & video coverage will enable us to share what we'll see & hear. If your interested in supporting us.
