Wolfe, who was a pilot in the 701st Sq from the 445th's deployment overseas until finishing his tour in Jul '44, passed away on 3 March 2005. He was 83 years old. His family will miss him dearly. Much of what we knew of my dad's exploits in WWII came from this website and through contacts made in the logbook. We were fortunate enough to be able to obtain a history of my dad's missions, and even talk to his former tail gunner, John F. Goan, who passed away in 2002. Best wishes and keep up the great work on this site. Name: City: Lexington Associated with 445th Bomb Group?: 702 Member, 2nd Air Division Association?: ? Shot down and killed over Kassel 27 September 1944. I found the only surviving member of his crew, Donald Mills in Fresno, California last fall. Donald was the tail gunner on that ship. I aquired some very detailed information on the raid from his prospective as he witnessed the entire squadren come apart during the attack. Positioned in the lead plane during the raid his vanatage point was optimal. I am very interested should there be another survivor of the raid that remembers anything about John Chilton or Donald Mills, no matter how small it may seem to you.
