Name: City: London Sent: 16/07 2004 09:10 Hi Rob, Been a long time mate. Hope your ok. Great site by the way. Just thought i'd drop you a line as i haven't seen you since that day.As you know Paul was a good mate, a fantastic musician and one of the most generous blokes i had the pleasure to work with. Thanks to Paul giving me that chance with Metallic Blue i have now gone on to record albums and do some really big concerts. I owe him so much and will never forget what he did for me in getting me the job with Angel Witch. I'm not playing with them anymore but i've had another opportunity come along with Shadow Keep. If it wasn't for Paul i wouldn't be where i am today, touring Europe and the States etc and having loads of fun. It's really funny coz every nite i'm about to go on stage,Paul always pops in my mind going 'Go for it boy!!!' HAHAHA And i can't listen to Hendrix anymore without picturing Paul playing it with him!!! Happy memories this end mate, and i still feel his spirit today, God bless ya Paul & Thank You so much. Hope to speak to you soon Rob, Take Care Scott Name: Homepage: http://www.locomotivebreath.net City: Karlshamn Sent: 14/06 2004 09:29 Just want to say THANKS to all the people that came to see the show. The response was awesome!!! I hope Paul was smiling up in his heaven when he saw and heard the reactions to songs like "Riding With The Angels", "Test Of Time", "R U Ready" etc. When Nicky started singing "Tomorrow Or Yesterday" I got severe goosebumps!! I heard the recording made by the Swedish Radio and it sounds really great! Can't say anything about if it will be released on CD, but I will surely work for it, if its possible to do it. I also know at least 3-4 songs were filmed, too. Well, thanks again and I really hope we will be able to do this again! Sent: 04/06 2004 07:59 Happy Birthday Bruv Rob Name: Homepage: http://www.locomotivebreath.net City: Karlshamn, Sweden Sent: 15/03 2004 08:43 In addition to my below note I'd just like to say I was totally hooked on Samson since I first heard the "Survivors" album (still have the original vinyl). I actually heard one of the tracks on the Heavy Sound Mail Order answering machine, and directly ordered the album back then! I used to play along to the record, and also to "Head On" when that was out. We even tried to cover "I Wish I Was The Saddle..." in my 80's band Overdrive! Well, hope to see you at Sweden Rock in June! Name: Homepage: http://www.locomotivebreath.net City: Karlshamn, Sweden Sent: 15/03 2004 07:45 Would just like to say it will be a true pleasure and great honour to back Nicky Moore at the Sweden Rock Festival this summer! The gig will also be recorded by the national Swedish Radio! We've just completed the set-list and there will be some nice stuff in there, even from the early days! We (Locomotive Breath) had Nicky guest us at last year's Sweden Rock, where we performed "Don't Get Mad, Get Even", "Tomorrow Or Yesterday", plus "Rock me Baby" and "Tush". This is basically what brought this idea to life! Janne Stark Guitarist/Locomotive Breath Name: City: rep. s. Marino Sent: 14/03 2004 13:04 Just to say hello. Today i' ve been "watching" Mel Gaynor. I didnt realy know him through his music but as a friend. Although i did see him with Refugee in his college years. He rang me when he moved to Norwich but I'm sad to say I never got to visit him there. I learned of his death from Rob and went to the funeral. It was a fitting send off. He is always in my thoughts and I miss his crap jokes. Alex This is a private message: Name: City: Chicago Sent: 18/04 2003 10:38 Paul Samson stayed & played here in Chicago in the Richard Black Project with my friend Jamie. I remember Paul as a quirky guy who was demanding & arrogant at times, yet when a kitten was trapped in a car engine, he & Jamie stood in the driving rain for hours until they rescued it. When Jamie was visiting me the other day, we were looking up something about Samson on the Internet & ran across his obituary - we didn't even know he was sick. For all you Paul Samson fans, friends & family who may be interested, Jamie put a few remembrances of Paul on the Internet, including this little jam they recorded at Jamies house - you can hear it at mp3.com: http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/233/sonic_deaf_monkey.html Jamie also has some tour photos on his website (click on "Rock Star"): http://www.geocities.com/mongorock/ Hope you enjoy them - PJ Moriarty Name: ANXO "MESSIAH!" I have a loy of information about Paulies early playing carreer. Don't forget that I did play in a 4 member Samson in early 1970. Chris was 2nd guitar. It never did work. I went on to work on cruise ships and played musical wallpaper untill I retired in 1995. Give me a message on the e-mail and give me the info about Paulie. Stupid bastard should've given me a call, that's what old mates are supposed to do. I pledge support and prayers for his family and friends. He will be missed and is regarded as one of the forerunners of the modern heavy rock guitar players. I am sure he is "Riding With The Angels" now... Thanks for that hour I really appreciated it, all the best Chris Name: City: Colchester Sent: 24/12 2002 12:22 On behalf of all Paul Samson fans worldwide I just wanted to thank Rob Grain for keeping Paul's memory alive via this great website. Man, and the "Survivors" is one of the best records I've ever bought! Sudden news of Paul's death was a mean strike for me. However, merry xmas to all and happy New Year.
