Pam...CONGRATULATIONS!!! Is he moving to Northern California? I think I remember you mentioning that he lived down south??? Paul, glad the sale of your business went so quickly! Good luck in Chatanooga...the best thing about the south is their southern hospitality and the FOOD! I could eat pecan waffles and grits and eggs every day for a week! You can swim with the crayfish on the Bayou now! Eric, glad you signed on. I will never forget when you and Robert Norton made Mrs. Fireman so mad that she kicked in the garbage can! Working at a middle school, as I do, I can certainly see why she did it...it was going to be the garbage can or your butt! Have a great weekend. Love, Pat

Thanks for hooking us back up, Leah. It is nice to hear that life is good for Paul and for Richard, and Guy, hope all goes well today...cancer is a scary thing. I want to share with all of you that our fellow Trojan, Maxine Harrington, is engaged to be married. The exact date is not set, however she is already signing her name "Maxine Cantergiani". He is a real cutie and I wish her the very best, as she so much deserves! I am enjoying my newly remodeled kitchen...what an undertaking! I am also starting my own bookkeeping business, so wish me luck! Love, Pat

Yaay ... the Ayer page is back! Thanks to Leah for keeping this up and for your vigilance in keeping it free of junk. While high school days may not have been the greatest at times, the good memories start crowding out the bad ones as time goes by. Congrats to Paul for his continued victories. Best wishes and good thoughts to Guy and the others who've had medical setbacks. Still enjoying life here in Lake Havasu, even though summer's warming up in the bullpen. Even got to sneak down to Phoenix in March for a little bit of spring training, which I've always wanted to do. I also love my work -- my annual evaluation was very good and I know my efforts are appreciated by my bosses. GO SUNS!

Wow, it is so great to read the 'posts from everyone. The last 2 years have been unique to say the least. After 14 months in Iraq ( Sunni Triangle was my patrol area), it was great to come back to the USA. I am still working for Uncle Sugar, but after 2 unoffical and 1 offical war, this ol' boy is ready to hang it up and let the younger "kids" play for the varsity. Was able to view email but line was terribly slow and getting anything out sucked. I am sooooooo looking forward to our 30 year bash. Anyway I am back in the Phoenix metro area so if anyone travels this way, drop a line. Take care, be safe, Michael

Hey Pat, Congratulations on the grandbaby and on the remodel. Do you have a contractor or are you doing this yourselves? Many things I can share with you. I am in the process of completing a kitchen remodel with a client. Any questions, email me. Hmmm, we'll have to talk in person, we can make those arrangements, I would love to get together. Dana, Exciting news about your kids! Glad to see you've written. I just started. And, I think I'll plan to come up to Tahoe, and I will let you know first. I think I need a quick get-a-way. Hmmm, maybe a few of us should just blaze a trail up there. LOLOL Hi to all SAH Trojans

Pat: More like drowned rat the last couple of weeks. The rain seems to be on a direct line from the SoCal coast to here. I'm hoping it'll clear up soon so I can head down to Phoenix for spring training -- but I know the warm weather will turn into triple digits soon enough! And, yes, the work situation is an improvement. I probably didn't see it when I was in the midst of it, but I was really frustrated and stagnating in my last job. Here, I'm using the same skills and instincts as before, but just a different way of using them, and, on the nights I'm in sports, readjusting my thinking to Arizona teams instead of NorCal (the Suns have been a lot of fun to watch). And it's just an adventure living in a different state for a change.

I have really been enjoying reading all of your e-mails. I just can't believe how well our class keeps up with each other. I am still being snowed in at Beautiful Lake Tahoe. Almost 13 years here now. Just a note, snow is pretty in December, January and February. It is okay in March. It is downright ugly in April, May and June. Keith and I are busy with three kids, Chris (16 and 6'1"), Kevin (12) and Corinne(8). Chris has been homeschooled the last few years and is now taking some college courses. I will kiss the ground when he gets his high school diploma. He is great with computers and is always on call with our friends when they have problems, TEENS! Kevin is trying to be an actor. He has been auditioning in LA. I am not quite sure where this will go but I gave him a year. He and Corinne have been on a competitive dance team for a while. We were just in San Mateo for a competition this past weekend. They way out ski/snowboard me. I can still beat all of them at basketball, although Kevin is really quick and aggressive. They keep me really busy. Keith is getting into buying and remodeling houses. The market here is outrageous. I really missed going to the 25th reunion. I can't wait for the next one. Next time I will check my dates. If you ever come here please look us up. I know if I get to Maui before long I will be looking you up Paul. You are having way too much fun. With Much Love, Dana

Dearest Mike, I feel for you. Sounds like you have a wonderful and EXHAUSTING life! How proud you must be of all your kids! Sandy Bennett's masters degree is in Public Administration...good education to have. So Paul, you do realize that there is a WORLD of difference between Maui and Chatanooga, right? Of course, it has been 19 years since I was in Chatanooga, but the only thing I found charming there was the Chatanooga Choo Choo. I think Hyatt or Hilton uses it for a hotel. Of course, it is hot an muggy there in the summer, not unlike Maui, but I don't think you will find any cute little umbrellas poking out of your Budweiser bottle in Tennessee! So Richard, a desert rat and liking it, eh? Can't say that I blame you. However, sounds like your work environment is the biggest improvement. There is nothing like enjoying what you do and enjoying where you are doing it. Overlooking Lave Havasu must be pretty OK, too. Alright, I've babbled on enough...hope everyone has a SWEET Valentines Day. Pat

Hellos from Lake Havasu City here! It's been almost a year since I left California for the desert and, except for an occasional bout of homesickness, no regrets. Still have my apartment just a couple of miles from the London Bridge and have a nice view of the lake and the California hills, which frame those perfect Arizona sunsets every evening. Don't miss all that Central Valley fog at all, in fact, I was driving to the rodeo last month and it was such a warm day, I had to keep reminding myself it was January! Really enjoying my work, too, which is more than I can say for Merced the last couple of years. It's a good crew at the paper for the most part and I'm finding out there are different ways of doing things than I have before. Living in a different state is a new experience. My mother even came down for a visit after Christmas, which was also a new experience!

ALOHA, I am still Down-and-out in Maui. (HA) Boy, everyone with kids, grandkids etc. I don't have any so I spend my time playing with the dolphins. The school did real well last year, we taught over 700 classes. We have the school on the market and plan on opening a school in Chattanooga, TN. We just got approved by the TN Department of Education. That was not an easy thing to do. The new school is called All-American Schools and we are not sure when we will open. Keep me in your prayers. I hope you all get a chance to visit Maui, it is the most romantic, beautiful place on earth. Take care, Paul Kelley (44)

Grettings Fellow Trojans, It's been sometime since I've posted anything. Here's a quick update on what's happening in the Modesto house hold. My 2 boys (Jordan & Trevor)keep my wife Carol and I extremely busy with their social calendar i.e.(school, pre-school, birthday parties little league, soccoer et.al.) Those of you who have kids know what I mean.... Jordan (6 yrs old) and Trevor (3 yrs old)finished their 1st year of soccer which was a blast. Jordan also brought home the most inspirational trophy too. He (Jordan) starts his 2nd year of little league in March. He passed his little league try out and will move up to the farm division too. Thank God he doesn't have his dad's athletic genes....? Carol and I will also be Grand Parents this May. Are oldest one, Shayne is having her first baby on May 7th. This will be our first grand child and also our first Great Grand Child in our family too. Needless to say our entire family is extremely excited! Shayne completed her batchelors at St Mary's College in Moraga in 2001 Nicole, our second oldest finishes up her masters in public adminstration in May too. She is attending Notre Dame de na mur University in Belmont. She completed her batchelors at UOP in 2002. My son Tyler also attends Notre Dame de na mur too. He is completing his junior year this year. That's it for now. Take care everyone, Mike "Moe"

Haven't been on for awhile, but glad I checked this evening...Kris, we thought you'd dropped off the face of this earth! We missed you at the 25th, so I'm glad you are still local - and did you say FOUR kids??? You must be a busy mama! Grandbaby is due the 28th of this month. My stepson's wife is 5 feet tall and normally weighs about 95 pounds soaking wet, so we are hoping for a small baby! Good to see other folks checking in, too. Sounds like everyone is busy with life. We are taking a step off the deep end and beginning a major kitchen/family room remodel at the end of the month. Hopefully we don't kill each other before the end, since I have a hunch it will look pretty good when we're done. Jess says we won't be eating out for a year after this! Hugs and kisses to all you Trojans! Love, Pat

Pat, Well, I told myself I'd give this at least a year, and there is that apartment lease I had to sign ... but its been pretty good so far. Stress is hand-in-hand with this business, but here its a lot more relaxed than in Merced. Being involved in sports coverage again helps (even though the Diamondbacks are just plain awful this year!). Yes, the high desert can be a revelation ... I go over the Tehachapis to get back to the valley, straight across the Mojave Desert (but now that I'm in Arizona, I have to remember I live in Mohave County, with an h). Saw a little more scenery when driving across it in a U-Haul, but can definitely say I prefer my SUV (for that 30 or so extra MPH). Debbie: We were in the 100s and 110s through June and July, but caught a break this past week when the monsoons hit. Unfortunately, lost power in the last two biggies. I live out by Mohave Community College, just to give you a point of reference.

So Richard, still a desert guy, huh? Saw a little high mountain desert a week ago. Our family drove though Yosemite over Tioga Pass and spent the afternoon at Mono Lake. Wow, what an incredible trip. It was so cool to see the "back side" of Half Dome. Wish I could have chiseled away some of that granite and taken it home to use in my kitchen! Chuck, Sandy McPherson's folks are in Brentwood, along with the Pacioni's and the Lucero's (I believe it was those two families.) They love it out there. A little closer than North Carolina where they had originally moved. Debbie, a grandma. Good for you (and your family!) My step-son, Erik, and his wife are expecting in Feb. I guess that makes me a grandma-to-be, too. Aren't we too young for this??? Pat

Ken: Good to hear from you again. Maxine, if you're lurking out there: Mega hugs!!! Pam: Congrats! Pat: Yeah, I hear you about distance, but a two-hourdrive isn't =that= bad. I had a long weekend and went to Santa Cruz last month ... 9 1/2 hours from the coast to Havasu! And life in the Valley will be much less hectic and a bit less expensive than the Bay area has become. Me? Still loving it here in the desert, and thanking every day the inventor of air conditioning, even in the midst of monsoon season. Just a couple of weeks to go until high school football season here, believe it or not.

This is a great website! Ken, haven't heard your name in a few years. Pam, conrats on the engagement! Sad news to pass on. Maxine Harrington's mom passed away a few days ago. Wonderful lady. All the Harrington kids were able to visit with her ahead of time. Max seems to be doing well...glad it wasn't me. I don't know if any of you remember my folk's house on Yosemite. Well, we just moved them out of it over the last week, signing the final papers today. They have moved into a lovely "1-story" home in Roseville. Gosh, it really hurts to have my mom and dad so far away. I don't want to be a big baby about it, but it is hard. Okay, engough whining. I'll just look at it as a great shopping opportunity...has anyone been to the Galleria up there? Wow! Great stores and great eats! Not Santana Row, but pretty darn good for Sacramento! Maybe we'll run into Arnold or Maria there??? Hope the start of school is great for all of you (and your kids!) Love, Pat

Sabrina! How could I forget that little synthesizer, all 36 keys of it. Wakeman's tour is aptly named: "Revival" -- that tour must have a special roadie assigned to perform CPR with one of those EKG crash carts! Mr. Saladino is a prof at University of the Tetons. Look him up. Good news, I got engaged in March to a wonderful sweet man, Henry. Henry lives in Los Angeles and we have a few wrinkles in the time-space continuum to smooth out first so no date set and we're keeping our fingers crossed. The occasional prayer doesn't hurt either! It was so sweet and romantic, the way he proposed. Took me on a picnic to the beach and totally surprised me. We celebrated with champagne and oranges in the sand to the sound of the seagulls and the waves. All my love and warmest wishes always to all my good friends at good old Sammy Ayer! PS: Come hear me and my little bluegrass group sing and play at San Gregorio General Store http://www.sangregoriostore.com on Saturday October 9 at 11 a.m. Pam

Hi Everyone! Hope all are well. How are all the Milpitians doing? Milpitas sure has changed! My Mom still lives there in the same old house since 1972. I just wanted to check in and say Hi. My family and I bought a house in Ben Lomond and we just love living here in the Santa Cruz mountain. Have a great summer and remember 'Click it or ticket' Be SAFE!!!

Hi Everyone! After computer malfunctions for several months, we finally got a new one so I can get back on line. Of course, this is the first site I visit!! I live very near Fort Drum where most of our Army is deployed out of for Iraq and Afghanistan. We have many dear friends serving there and have lost a few. My scout troop adopted a platoon and we lost 3 of our guys. Patriotism is strong here, and the flags are flying! All the small towns and villages look like Mayberry.

Katy: Dave's still in California. Email me a message and I'll pass it along. Me? Tuesday was my 3-month anniversary at the News-Herald ... finally eligible for the health plan! And back on the baseball beat too, covering a little semipro ball on the days I fill in for the sports editor.

I just learned about the Class of '79 reunion. I really hope to make it there. Although, I didn't graduate due to my Dad taking a new job and moving us when I finished 10th grade, I felt the 2 years at Samuel Ayer and 1 year (8th grade) at Rancho were like 30 years of memories. During my time at Rancho and Ayer I was a perpetual outsider and didn't hang out much with anyone in the class of '79. Mostly that was because I lived above Ed Levin park so most of my friends were the kids who lived in that rural area and my best friend's classmates who were a year or 2 older. I'm sure no one remembers me, but I'm sure all of you remember the "big student walkout" and teacher strike in '77. My mom, a women who always believed in trying to make things better, was elected school board president. Unfortunately at the time I learned some interesting lessons about politics as I became persona non-grata for about a week or two while rumours were flying and teachers and students tried to figure out what was the truth and what was not. All in all, I have a lot of memories from that time and cherish them all. Now, I no longer drag my embroidery projects to school to sit and work on them in the Senior Glen! I'm a designer in New York and teach handbag design classes at the Fashion Institute. Who would have guessed?! Nadine

JUST COMPLETED A MILITARY ROTATION IN BAGHDAD AND STOPPED OFF HERE IN THE CITY OF BALAD BEFORE FLYING TO FRANKFURT, GE AND HOME TO FT BRAGG, NC. HOPE TO BE BACK IN MILPITAS SOON TO SEE THE MANY CHANGES I'VE BEEN HEARING ABOUT. TAKE CARE --TONY G.

Wow! Lots of reasons to celebrate at your house Pat. Hope everything went wonderfully! And, since the lady wanted updates ... its been two months since I've been working in Lake Havasu and I'm really loving it. It's a lot more relaxed atmosphere than my last job, we like to laugh a lot, but we get the job done when we have to, like last week when the sports editor was off and the photograper was sick when we had two teams playing at home at the same time in regionals ... I covered baseball, the cops reporter covered softball and even snapped a couple of pictures we used in the paper the next day. The sports editor is very easy-going and we have a lot of the same ideas on covering sports, so filling in is easy on his days off. Mostly, though, I've beenlearning how things are done here. Do get a little homesick sometimes, but I'll get an email, call or picture from a friend or relative that keeps me going. Have I switched to the Diamondbacks? No way ... the Giants games come in fine on the radio at night. But think good sporting thoughts for the Sharkies, Stanley needs to come to California.

Hi everyone. Cool website! Just found it while working on graveyard tonite. What happened to the Class of 79 website? It's good to see some familiar names. Your 25 reunion pictures were great! Me, I'm living in Westminster, Colorado. 3 1/2 years now, just love it. Wish I would have done it sooner. Working in the Aerospace Business, 24 years now. It's been fun. Lots of travel, exciting work launching satellites. I'll keep checking this site to see what's going on. If you remember me, please e-mail me. I would like to hear from you.

Okay, so I visit this site about once every other week to see who else has deposited a brief note about themselves. I love the little tidbits about Jacqui and her marathons and Tina and her performances. What interesting people we all turned out to be! I wish more of you would just post what you're up to these days. Well, I guess I should practice what I preach... This weekend my stepson, Erik, and his new bride will be home on leave for the first time since he shipped out to Japan 2-1/2 years ago! They got married there, so we have not even met Susan. They come in tomorrow night, so we will be having a party for them on Sat., as well as celebrating Mother's Day with them. My other great news it that my Dad's lymphoma is not back, as the oncologist had feared. Three years ago he was diagnosed with Large Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and went through the ugliness of chemotherapy. Praise God he came out of it...although it was questionable at the end. I know many of you have lost parents already, but I just told God that I wasn't ready to lose my daddy yet. Happy Mother's Day to all of you Trojans out there! Pat

Hi classmates, I finished my marathon in Arizona 3/14/04, and it was not easy. After training in the cold weather and then going to 85 degrees was hard. I finished in 5:27, not what I was hoping for, but finish I did. Sorry to say I did not get to enjoy the momment for long. On Thurseday 3/18 Stephen was on his Harley lost control and crashed. He was unconcious for 20+ minutes and life-flighted to Eden Medical. He did not break any bones, surprisingly. He will have physical therapy for a while, but is expected to recover. Jac

Hi everyone, took a long break from peeking into the web- site. Currently in my Masters Theology Degree program. Hoping to go into Military as Chaplain (We'll see if it happens at my age) Hope you're doing well Rob Phillips, and my prayers are with Pauls Family, as well as the families of other dearly departed. These events although sad are reminders to treat each other with love and respect while we are here, because life tends to be fragile, and to trust and have faith in our Lord Jesus that He has our loved ones in Heaven where there is no more pain and suffering. Hi Sabrina, and Hi Tina, and by the way, is the class of 79 having a class reuinon?? I don't think we have a web-site as nice as this one do we?? If anyone knows the Class of 1979 web-site, please post it here for me. Mark

Greetings from just across the state line, everyone. I've relocated to Arizona, where I've just finished my first week on the copy desk at the paper in Lake Havasu City. To make a long story short (hey, that's what good copy editors do!), the paper I was working at was sold in December and I was laid off when the sale was made final in early January. After a couple of months of marketing myself, making do on unemployment and a couple of interviews, I'm starting over again here in the desert (where they promised me that not only can I keep rooting for the Giants, I do not have to root for the Arizona Cardinals!). So far so good ... I have a nice apartment with a good view of the lake (I just a couple of miles from the London Bridge, imagine that!) and the spectacular sunsets every night ... but we'll see how I feel about that when it gets over 110 in the summer! Once they get me all broken in, I'll be on the news desk three days a week and the sports desk the other two, which I was hoping to do a little of anyway, since I've missed it. My co-workers are a good crew and the people in town seem very nice, so we'll see how this new adventure goes.

Funny Jacqui, my parents did not come up to Washington fearing they would be snowed in! I agree with your assesment of Alameda, I was lucky to live their in the early 90's. Funny I didn't know much about it growing up, and it is so close to Milpitas. Good luck on your run. Chuck Harvey

Happy New Year to all! Holiday's were quiet this year, my parents couldn't come down from Oregon, they were snowed in. Marie was in Maine with her girls and Grandkids, and my brother was with his new in-laws. My marathon training is taking up most of my time these days. Yesterday we did 13 miles at Harbor Bay Alameda, what a beautiful trail and veiw of the city. It is amazing all the trails I never new about! I will be running the Home Depot Half Marathon Feb.1, so if you are in San Fransico come cheer me on! Take care, Jacqui

Happy New Year! Paul, I knew you'd relocate once you opened up your school on Maui...congrats! I'm jealous. Looks like we may be going back to Kauai this summer. Jess' cousin is getting married there in August and they were nice enough to send out "pre-invitations." Pam Sherman Russell...my mom sent home boxes with each of us girls this Christmas. Included in these boxes were report cards, pictures, etc. I have our 1st grade class picture. We were so cute! Ah, a stroll down memory lane. I guess we should exercise it as long as we have it! Hope 2004 is a blessed, happy year for everyone! Love, Pat

Ron, where in Colorado are you? I'm in Lafayette, about 10 miles east of Boulder. I can tell everyone that you do get through the teenage years....I have a 21 year old who is a junior in college and she likes me again! To balance that...I have a 17 year old and a 14 year who both think I only live to make their lives miserable or to embarrass them. Hope everyone is well...Happy Holidays! Jan

Glad you are keeping up with us, Ron. Wow, seven kids! You and your wife must both be saints! I am happy to say that I survived a teenage stepson (barely) but I still have 13 months before my own son turns into a werewolf, er, teenager! I am praying NOW that my children are NOTHING like I was. My stepson is married now and is calling us for advise! Hope Thanksgiving was wonderful for everyone and that we can all enjoy the upcoming Christmas season with the least amount of stress and the most amount of celebration! Hello everyone! Yes I'm still alive and in living color. I have been reading through the posts that you all have shared here and and I must say it makes me miss you all. I live in Colorado and I've been married for 19 years. I have 4 boys and 3 girls. The saint I married is the one I brought to the 5 year reunion. Her name is Jill. I am a Manager for FedEx. It is so good to hear that so many of you are doing so well. Here is a scary question. How many of you ended up having teenagers that turned out just like you? Or almost like you? Heaven forbid. Pray for me and mine. I'll do the same for you. God Bless. Ron
